2025 Activity (2025 活動花絮)
20 May 2025 RTHK channel 3 radio interview
In 2054, I will be one in 2.5 people in Hong Kong aged 65 or older. I will need to confront issues like my financial, care, and health arrangements — not only for myself, but also for my friends and family.
My two sons — now grown up — will inevitably be affected by those choices and may even participate in making them.
So today, at the tender age of 36, I am proud to be the first Asian to be accredited as an Elder Mediator (Advanced) with the Elder Mediation International Network, and to serve as Co-Director of Elder Mediation Development at The Hong Kong Mediation Society.
I hope to inspire a movement that promotes positive ageing and supports us all in living the last stage of life with dignity.
I had the pleasure of joining Winnie Chan, my Co-Director at HKMS, on Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) Radio 3 to talk about:
🔹What elder mediation is,
🔹Why it matters in a rapidly ageing society like Hong Kong, and
🔹How we can help families navigate tough conversations around care, autonomy, finances, and intergenerational expectations.
We also shared practical examples of how elder mediation can help work through disagreements and preserve relationships, and spoke about our vision to make elder mediation more accessible — through community partnerships and public engagement.
Huge thanks to Cruzanne Macalligan 麥美琦 for the opportunity to share our work and vision.
A special thanks to my IT assistant/husband, Graham Rhodes, for making me sound better than I do.
